Team Member Bhavik Bakshi Wins Grant to Study End-of-life Plastic Solutions

Bakshi's team will investigate ways to create a more circular economy around plastics.

DRFEWS team member Dr. Bhavik Bakshi was recently awarded a $2 million grant from the National Science Foundation’s Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) program.

Bakshi’s team was one of two recipients of EFRI funding within the Ohio State William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The project,  co-led by Li-Chiang Lin, will develop methods and tools to address end-of-life plastics.

“With this collaborative project, we expect to contribute to finding solutions that allow society to benefit from the many attractive properties of plastics, while eliminating their environmental impacts such as those due to littering and greenhouse gas emissions,” Bakshi said.
